ICYMI: Stauber Joins Leader McCarthy, Congressional Representatives, and Industry Stakeholders in Roundtable on Energy Crisis
WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) joined Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, Congressional colleagues, and industry stakeholders in a roundtable to discuss skyrocketing energy prices and how the Democrat reconciliation bill will only exacerbate this energy crisis.
On rising energy prices and Democrat policies, Stauber stated, "The keep-it-in-the-ground mentality, it's strong and well-funded. We have to fight back because this is an attack on the middle class…the middle class is going to pay more for gas at the pump."
When Stauber was asked by a member of the press as to what American families can expect in the winter months, Stauber stated, "Look at the price of natural gas. Many of our homes are heated by natural gas…and prices are expected to jump by 54 percent. I mean that's several hundred dollars more a year. In my district, the average median income is 51,000 dollars a year. That's real money."

During the Trump Administration, America was the world leader in oil and gas production, flooding the market with supply and keeping energy prices affordable.
Unfortunately, through policies like the cancellation of Keystone, the ban on new oil and gas leasing on federal lands, and the ban on mining in northern Minnesota, the Biden Administration has eroded American energy production and eliminated American energy independence.
Democrats are now pushing a reconciliation package that would make this energy crisis permanent. Included in their massive reconciliation package is a moratorium on oil and gas production on federal lands.
Their plan will:
- Enact crushing new costs and fees on domestic producers.
- Impose a drilling moratorium on top of existing regulations.
- Halt efforts to develop copper and other minerals necessary for renewable energy and battery storage.
