Lake Country Power to Receive $52 Million Loan to Improve Electrical Infrastructure in Rural Minnesota
HERMANTOWN, MN – Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) announced that Lake Country Power will receive a $52,000,000 loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development. This loan will be used to finance 1,400 new consumer connections, build and improve 249 miles of line, and invest $17 million in smart grid technologies across Minnesota's Eighth Congressional District.
"This loan will do wonders for rural development in northeastern Minnesota," said Stauber. "Building and investing in electrical infrastructure will improve service for thousands of customers and expand services to hundreds more. I'm grateful to the USDA for lending the money and I took forward to seeing it help those living in Minnesota's Eighth Congressional District."
Lake County Power provides service to approximately 49,000 customers across 8,319 miles of line in Koochiching, Carlton, St. Louis, Cass, Aitkin, Lake, Itasca, and Pine Counties.
