Media Advisory: Stauber to Host Field Hearing on the Importance of Rural Broadband

May 23, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) will host a House Small Business Committee field hearing titled Small Businesses and their Limitations without Reliable Access to Rural Broadband on Thursday, May 30th in Scandia, Minnesota.

Stauber will be joined by Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02), the Chairman of the Small Business Subcommittee on Contracting and Infrastructure, to hear from small businesses lacking access to reliable broadband and examine what can be done at the federal level to improve broadband access.

Of the field hearing, Stauber stated, "Too many rural communities across Minnesota's Eighth Congressional District do not have access to broadband and are left behind in today's technology-driven economy. This Congress, I remain committed to closing the digital divide between Minnesota's rural and metro areas because broadband is no longer a luxury, it is a necessity. I look forward to hosting this field hearing with my colleague, Congressman Golden and discussing what can be done to ensure every Minnesotan has access to quick and reliable broadband."
