Stauber Announces Over $2 Million in Grant Money to Prevent Violence Against Women
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) announced that the Department of Justice is awarding over $2 million to four organizations in his district – Anishinabe Legal Services, Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, Men as Peacemakers, and Mending the Sacred Hoop – to help prevent violence against women.
Of this funding, Stauber stated, "During my time as a law enforcement officer, I saw the devastating impact that sexual violence and domestic abuse has had on women and families living in our communities. This is an issue we must take seriously, which is why I'm happy to announce this important investment being made in Minnesota's Eighth District. Earlier this year, I voted in favor of reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act, which supports these organizations in their mission to combat violence against women, and I remain committed to advocating for programs that support victims and survivors across Minnesota."
The breakdown of the money is as follows:
- Anishinabe Legal Services in Cass Lake will receive $600,000.
- Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe in Cass Lake will receive $810,821.
- Men as Peacemakers in Duluth will receive $348,944.
- Mending the Sacred Loop in Duluth will receive $302,174.
