Stauber Announces State of the Union Guest

February 3, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) announced that he has invited his constituent and member of a local trade union, Mahaila Houle, to attend the 2020 State of the Union as his guest. Mahaila is currently employed helping to expand a local hospital, but the job is temporary, and she is eager to begin construction on the Line 3 replacement project.

Of his guest, Stauber stated, "Mahaila is an impressive individual, having accomplished so much at a young age, including her recent completion of an apprenticeship program with the local 49ers IUOE. At the State of the Union, Mahaila will represent the thousands of skilled workers across Minnesota who are waiting for construction of the Line 3 replacement project to begin and the economic prosperity that this project promises. It is an honor to have her as my guest and I am proud that, together, we can shine light on a project that is so important to the Northland."

Mahaila is also a member of the Fond Du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and currently lives in Cloquet, Minnesota.

Congressman Stauber is available for interviews before and after the State of the Union address. Please reach out to Kelsey Mix directly for media requests.

The President will deliver his annual State of the Union address on Tuesday, February 4, at 9:00 PM ET.
