Stauber Leads Delegation Letter in Support for Duluth International Airport Air Traffic Control Tower Upgrade
Minnesota - Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) and Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) recently led the Minnesota delegation in sending a letter to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requesting that they expedite reviews and approvals required for Duluth International Airport (DLH) to apply for grant funding to build a new air traffic control tower.
“The Duluth International Airport is an important economic driver for our Arrowhead communities as it connects the Northland to the rest of the world,” said Stauber. “Unfortunately, the airport’s air traffic control tower is outdated and deteriorating, putting commercial, cargo and medical flight operations at risk. I’m proud to lead this request to the FAA so the airport can quickly submit a successful application because this much-needed improvement will help our region prosper.”
Duluth International Airport’s existing air traffic control tower is the 3rd oldest in the country and fails to meet certain FAA standards. According to data from the airport, DLH supports 6,230 jobs and over $760 million in annual economic activity.
