Stauber Selected for House Small Business Committee Leadership Position
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) has been appointed to serve as the Ranking Member of the House Small Business Committee’s Contracting and Infrastructure Subcommittee.
Upon being named Ranking Member of the Contracting and Infrastructure Subcommittee, Stauber stated, “Small businesses are the backbone of the economy, so it remains my top priority to ensure those that are in Minnesota’s Eighth Congressional District and across the nation are set up to succeed. In my new role, I look forward to working with Ranking Member Chabot (R-OH) and leading my colleagues on this subcommittee to expand resources and opportunities that help Minnesota’s small businesses compete for federal contracts and help spur the local economy by extension.”
Ranking Republican Member Steve Chabot (R-OH) stated, “Congressman Stauber’s experience as a police officer and in local government will serve him well as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Contracting and Infrastructure. I know that he will support policies that will deliver results for America’s small businesses.”
The Subcommittee on Contracting and Infrastructure will assess the federal procurement system; and provide oversight of government-wide procurement practices and programs affecting small businesses, federal procurement policies that inhibit or expand participation by small businesses in the federal contracting marketplace, all contracting programs established by the Small Business Act, technical assistance provided to federal contractors and prospective contractors, SBA’s Surety Bond guarantee program, and programs available to small businesses in modernizing and strengthening the nation’s infrastructure.
