Stauber Sends Letter to President Biden Demanding a Return to American Energy and Mineral Dominance

March 8, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, Congressman Pete Staubersent a letter to President Biden demanding that President Biden and his Administration end their hostility to domestic energy and mineral sources, and to encourage American domestic energy production.

"In his first hours in office, President Biden declared war on American energy," said Congressman Pete Stauber. "This shortsighted decision to appease radical activists increased our reliance on foreign energy and mineral sources, including from Russia, from which the United States imported an average of 672,000 barrels of oil per day in 2021, lining Vladimir Putin's pockets as he plotted an invasion of Ukraine. And now he's looking to buy oil from Iran, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela instead of using American energy and an American workforce.

"It does not have to be this way. America is blessed to have an abundance of natural resources. It's time for President Biden to unleash American energy, including by restarting construction on the Keystone XL pipeline. Instead of importing Russian oil and minerals, and subsidizing Putin's evil and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, I urge President Biden to reverse course and choose American energy, American blue-collar jobs and American energy security."
