WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) sent a letter to President Joe Biden raising important questions and concerns about the Administration’s recent request for OPEC nations to produce more oil and gas to help combat rising energy costs.

In his letter to the President, Stauber asked the President what so many Americans across the nation are asking – “Why does this Administration continue hamper domestic energy production and investment resulting in tens of thousands of good paying, often labor union jobs, and ask other nations to put foreign workers to work and bring foreign energy to our shores?”

Of his letter to the President, Congressman Stauber stated, “By cancelling the Keystone Pipeline and banning leasing on federal lands, President Biden has managed to eliminate American energy independence within the span of just seven months. Gas prices continue to skyrocket as a result, and now, President Biden is asking countries like Saudi Arabia to bail him out. The President must be fully transparent as to why he insists on putting the America last. He must explain why he continues to rely on OPEC nations, rather than empowering American workers to develop these resources under the strongest environmental and labor standards in the world.”
