Stauber Votes for Legislation to Prevent Biden from Withholding Military Aid to Israel
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) voted for the Israel Security Assistance Support Act to require the Biden Administration to expeditiously deliver the Congressionally approved defense support to Israel and condemn the President’s dangerous actions to withhold arms as Israel faces unprecedented threats from Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iran. Stauber is a cosponsor of this critical legislation.
“Earlier this month, President Biden signaled that he would defy the will of Congress by conditionally withholding weapons to Israel in order to appease the radical pro-Hamas wing of the Democrat Party,” said Stauber. “Biden’s attempts to abandon our top ally in the Middle East during their darkest hour is not only despicable, but it also emboldens violent terrorists and displays weakness on the world stage. That’s why I am proud to support critical legislation that will hold the White House accountable and ensure that military aid is delivered to Israel without delay. This bill passed the House with bipartisan support, and I now call on Leader Schumer to bring it to the Senate Floor for consideration. Israel has a right to defend itself and anyone who attempts to prevent them from doing so is siding with Hamas, a barbaric terrorist organization that has murdered hundreds of Israelis, raped women, committed unspeakable crimes against babies and the elderly, and continues to hold both Israelis and Americans hostages.”
Last week, President Biden threatened to withhold weapons and munitions from Israel if they entered Rafah, a major Hamas stronghold in Gaza.
This move comes shortly after Congress passed the National Security Supplemental, which included $26 billion to replenish Israel’s defensive systems, including the Iron Dome and David’s Sling, and provide additional weapons and munitions to Israel for their continued defense from terrorist groups in the region.
