Stauber Votes NO on Biden and Pelosi’s Multi-Trillion Tax-and-Spend Package
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) made the following statement after voting against Democrats' multi-trillion tax-and-spend package:
"From skyrocketing inflation to severe supply chain disruptions, the United States of America is in a constant state of crisis due to the failed policies of the Biden Administration.
"Unfortunately, instead of working together to put this country back on the right path, Joe Biden, Speaker Pelosi, and their allies in Congress are doubling down on this failed agenda by pushing a tax-and-spend package that will fundamentally change America and make problems we are facing even worse.
"It's the content – not just the cost – of this legislation that is especially dangerous for American families and our economy. Some of the worst provisions included in this package would:
- Implement one of the largest tax increases in our nation's history.
- Hire 87,000 new IRS agents to target ordinary Americans.
- Perpetuate labor shortages by eliminating work requirements to receive welfare benefits for able bodied adults – at a time when there are over 10.4 million job openings.
- Impede and ban domestic energy and mineral production, increasing our dependency on OPEC, China, and Russia.
- Permit the taxpayer funding of abortion.
- Give amnesty to illegal aliens, further incentivizing illegal immigration and worsening the border crisis.
"Make no mistake, this bill will hit working families the hardest by raising taxes and causing inflation to soar to new heights. While coastal elites might not notice more price hikes at the gas pump or checkout line, working families in Minnesota's Eighth Congressional District most certainly will. My constituents deserve better, which is why I voted NO."
