Minnesota - Representatives Pete Stauber (MN-08), Tom Emmer (MN-06), and Jim Hagedorn (MN-01) issued the following statement ahead of Governor Walz's pending announcement on the status of Minnesota's current stay-at-home order:

"During today's weekly Congressional delegation conference call - and as his Administration reviews the health and economic data prior to tomorrow's anticipated announcement - we urged Governor Walz to allow the current stay-at-home order to expire in full on Monday, May 18, 2020.

A total of $600,000 in brownfields grants was awarded to aid in the cleanup of priority sites in Northeastern Minnesota on Wednesday.

The Arrowhead Regional Development Commission based in Duluth was the recipient of the funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which announced the news along with Rep. Pete Stauber.

HERMANTOWN, MN – Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) joined EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler in announcing that the Arrowhead Regional Development Commission has been selected to receive a Brownfields Assessment Coalition Grant worth $600,000. The Cities of Two Harbors, International Falls, Cloquet, Grand Rapids, and Cohasset, and Aitkin County – all within Minnesota's Eighth District – are considered coalition partners and have prioritized locations where the funding will be considered.

The "Securing America's Critical Minerals Supply Chain Act" would give incentives to American manufacturers to purchase domestically sourced minerals.

Congressman Stauber says mining is essential to northern Minnesota's economy and identity and the legislation would empower miners to develop the resources necessary to meet the nation's security and economic needs.

U.S. Rep. Pete Stauber didn't have all the answers when he met online with his peers in the Hermantown business community Wednesday.

But for the roughly 45 members who took part in the Zoom video conferencing meeting, Stauber's presence seemed enough.
