WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) introduced the Accessing America's Critical Minerals Act, legislation that brings commonsense reforms to the permitting process for critical mineral projects on federal lands in Minnesota's Eighth District, and nationwide.
As the Ranking Member of the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources, Stauber has made it a top priority to address the most burdensome regulations that have delayed good mining projects for years and kept the United States reliant on foreign minerals.
STAPLES, Minn. — With representatives from agriculture, construction, education, mining, hospitality, trucking and timber, there was no shortage of concern over the need for workers right now during a gathering Thursday, April 8, in central Minnesota.
Owner Mike Boomer said business is down 90% at his convenience store and gas station, his general manager of more than 10 years departed and he doesn't know where he'll find employees once the border finally reopens to more travelers.
"Being a third-generation business owner has its own challenges without two governments working against us," Boomer said during a roundtable discussion on Tuesday. "We need some sort of opening — not tomorrow, we need it now."
MINNESOTA – Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) released the following statement upon learning that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs released $80 million in federal funds for the expansion of state veterans homes in Preston, Montevideo, and Bemidji (which is partially located in Minnesota's Eighth Congressional District).
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) recently introduced new legislation to help prevent the implementation of disastrous economic shutdowns like those imposed unilaterally by Governor Walz and other leaders as a response to COVID.
The Stop Shutdowns Now Act would require the Small Business Administration to create an impact report on any future state, federal, or executive COVID-19 requirements that would restrict or otherwise prevent small businesses from operating at normal capacity.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee advanced Congressman Pete Stauber's (MN-08) aviation safety legislation, the Notice to Airmen Improvement Act, which requires clearer safety notifications to pilots.
Specifically, this legislation would establish a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) taskforce to determine what improvements should be made to the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) system, which alerts pilots of potential hazards along a flight route or at a location that could affect the safety of the flight.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – This evening, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) voted against H.R. 6 and H.R. 1603, two bills that will provide amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants, further incentivizing illegal immigration and spurring more dangerous activity along the southern border.
For over two decades, I had the privilege of serving our community as a Duluth Police officer. As a former officer, I can tell you that there is nothing a good cop dislikes more than a bad cop. That's why I introduced common-sense police-reform legislation called the JUSTICE Act, along with Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina. As one of the only law-enforcement officers serving in Congress, I have been honored to lead on this issue.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, outlining his concerns over the majority's dismissal of his multiple efforts to address child slave labor and human right's abuses abroad. Over the course of the past year, Stauber has offered five amendments to ensure new infrastructure projects are not built with minerals sourced from child labor. All of his efforts have been blocked by the majority.
