Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) released the following statement on the Biden Administration's latest action to ban mining in northern Minnesota after the U.S. Forest Service today released a politicized environmental assessment recommending a region-wide mining ban on minerals, including copper, nickel, cobalt, and platinum-group elements in the Superior National Forest.

Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (R-Minn.) and House Committee on Natural Resources Ranking Member Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) introduced the ESA Flexibility Act. This legislation will grant landowners leeway and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) flexibility when dealing with endangered species listed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA), including the northern long-eared bat.

Last night, Congressman Pete Stauber's (MN-08) bipartisan legislation to help more small businesses compete for federal contracts passed the U.S. House of Representatives. The bill will now head to the U.S. Senate for consideration.

The Strengthening Subcontracting for Small Business Act will ensure that federal government contractors are utilizing small businesses in subcontracts.

Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) announced that Pine River-Backus High School freshman Raena Hanneken has won first place in the Congressional Art Competition hosted by his office. Judges chose Raena's painting, "Scenic Sunset at Split Rock," as the winner out of all the unique submissions from talented students across Minnesota's Eighth Congressional District. "Scenic Sunset at Split Rock" will hang in the U.S. Capitol alongside the winning artwork from other Congressional Districts across the country.
