Washington, D.C. -- This week, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) sent a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas demanding answers on how the agency plans to combat the surge of illegal crossings through the U.S. northern border, which could potentially be exacerbated by Canada’s announcement to cap the number of temporary residents.

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) introduced the Miracle on Ice Congressional Gold Medal Act, which would award 3 Congressional Gold Medals to the members of the 1980 United States Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team for their historic victory over the Soviet Union in the 1980 Winter Olympics. One of the Congressional Gold Medals will be placed on display in Minnesota’s Eighth Congressional District at the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in Eveleth, Minnesota.

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) sent Postmaster General Louis Dejoy a letter regarding a report detailing how the United States Postal Service (USPS) is considering plans to allow slower mail delivery in the coming months for long-distance and rural services to cut costs.

Minnesota - Today, Congressman Stauber visited the City of Buhl’s Water Infrastructure Improvements Project, a project he secured funding for in the Fiscal Year 2024 federal spending package. Funding for this project will repair and refurbish the City of Buhl’s aging and deteriorating water storage system. This will safeguard the water supply for residents and attract future investment and development.

Minnesota Today, Congressman Stauber visited the Tower Stabilization Pond Expansion Project, a project he secured funding for in the Fiscal Year 2024 federal spending package. Funding for this project will expand wastewater capacity for the Tower and Breitung Township communities.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) announced the introduction of the Motor Carrier Safety Selection Standard Act, legislation to require the Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to establish a national safety standard for brokers and shippers who contract with motor carriers for the transport of goods.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) introduced the Modifying Allocations to Improve Local Service (MAIL) Act, legislation to improve mail operations in Minnesota by requiring the United States Postal Service (USPS) to redistribute the $3 billion in funding originally appropriated for their acquisition of a new fleet of electric vehicles to support the hiring and retention of rural postal employees. These funds were made available through the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) and Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) announced the introduction of the Rural Mail Delivery Improvement Act, legislation to require the United States Postal Service (USPS) to implement all the recommendations made by the Office of Inspector General (OIG) following their audit of the Bemidji Post Office. The USPS currently disagrees with two of the five recommendations made by the OIG.
