WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) voted in favor of two comprehensive childcare packages that will assist childcare facilities and working families struggling in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Stauber voted yes on H.R. 7027, the Child Care is Essential Act and H.R. 7327, the Child Care for Economic Recovery Act, which included two of his childcare bills that will help families save for this critical expense and prevent families from losing these hard-earned savings due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) received the Champion for Healthy Seniors Award from the Partnership to Fight Chronic Diseases (PFCD). Stauber was chosen to receive this award based on his leadership in lowering the cost of prescription drugs and protecting in-home treatments during the COVID-19 pandemic. The award was presented to Stauber by a local group of healthcare advocates through a Zoom meeting.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) reiterated his opposition to the Fiscal Year 2021 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Spending bill which is being led by Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-04) and contains a policy rider which would halt iron ore, precious metal, and aggregate permitting within the Rainy River Watershed and the Superior National Forest.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) voted for the Great American Outdoors Act, legislation that will preserve and protect our nation's public lands. Specifically, this legislation will address the maintenance backlog on federal public lands and fund the Land Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) with revenues generated from offshore oil and gas production.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, the House of Representatives passed Congressman Pete Stauber's (MN-08) legislation to ensure small businesses that are federal contractors are treated fairly. The legislation mandates that the business receive at least half of what they are owed should there be a contract modification, otherwise known as a change order. This legislation passed the House as part of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2021. It will now head to the Senate for consideration.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) and Congresswoman Angie Craig (MN-02) introduced the Stop Coronavirus Scams Act in a bipartisan effort to crack down on the rising number of scams occurring during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Stop Coronavirus Scams Act would double the maximum forfeiture penalty, criminal fine, and term of imprisonment for anyone who attempts to wrongfully obtain anything of value from individuals by using false COVID-19 related information.

This legislation will allow the Army Corps on Engineers to conduct projects that improve America's water infrastructure. It will head to the House Floor for a vote next.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) announced his appointment to serve on the Canada-United States Interparliamentary Group, which was created to exchange information and promote better understanding between U.S. and Canadian legislators on common programs and concerns. Congressman Stauber was chosen for this position as a variety of industries within Minnesota, and Minnesota's Eighth Congressional District in particular, rely heavily on close proximity to Canada.
