Mining trucks, utility trucks, ice-breakers, and fellow bunchers drive the economy. And leaders from those industries are constantly working to make sure they stay competitive.

Congressman Pete Stauber wanted to hear what's happening on the ground, so he can continue to advocate for them out in D.C.

He hosted a roundtable with people who are leaders in shipping, mining, power, timber and logging, and business. For about an hour, he asked them questions about policy, current and proposed.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) made the following statement after President Trump signed an Executive Order on Wednesday, declaring a National Emergency to expand the domestic mining industry, support mining jobs, alleviate unnecessary permitting delays, and reduce our nation's reliance on China for critical minerals. Congressman Stauber personally requested that the President take this step.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, during Congressman Pete Stauber's (MN-08) first markup as a Member of the Natural Resources Committee, he strongly opposed H.R. 5598, a bill authored by Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-04), that would kill high-wage mining jobs in his district.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This morning, Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) signed a discharge petition to force Speaker Pelosi to bring H.R. 8265, the Paycheck Protection Program Extension Act to the House Floor for a vote. This commonsense legislation, of which Stauber is a cosponsor, would reopen the Paycheck Protection Program for the remainder of the year and give small businesses the ability to receive a second loan. The Paycheck Protection Program has been shutdown for 48 days, yet Speaker Pelosi has refused to bring this legislation to the Floor.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, during consideration of Speaker Pelosi's partisan Green New Deal legislation (H.R. 4447), Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) introduced two commonsense amendments to reduce reliance on unreliable foreign nations and horrific child labor for America's energy needs and create more opportunities for the American worker. Despite the fact that both amendments received bipartisan support in the past, the majority blocked both measures.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08) made the following statement after the House voted to pass Savanna's Act and the Not Invisible Act. Congressman Stauber cosponsored and continuously fought for the passage of both bipartisan bills as they will both address the high rates of violence faced by Native American women. Both bills, which had previously passed in the U.S. Senate, will now move to the President's desk for signature.
